Prodiance Introduces Solution to Automatically Discover & Inventory Mission Critical Spreadsheets
San Ramon, Calif. – October 30, 2007 – Prodiance Corporation, the leading provider of solutions for financial spreadsheet remediation and control, today announced a new solution to help organizations automate discovery and inventory efforts for mission critical spreadsheets, Access databases and other user developed applications (UDAs). Spreadsheets are inherently difficult to maintain because they are user-driven, stored on disparate network computers and employee PCs, and outside the control of IT departments. The new solution, Prodiance eDiscovery, helps organizations get their arms around spreadsheets, Access databases and UDAs that are mission critical by scanning an organization’s network on a routine basis, generating inventory reports, and alerting managers of potential risk and compliance gaps.
Discovery and inventory are the first and perhaps most critical steps in controlling critical spreadsheets and UDAs, yet organizations often struggle with identifying the hundreds and thousands of spreadsheets created each day by end users. Leading tax and audit firms recommend inventorying critical spreadsheets to promote auditability, but manual discovery and inventory processes have proven too time intensive and not comprehensive.

Prodiance eDiscovery automates the ongoing discovery and inventory of critical spreadsheets, Access databases and UDAs by:
Periodically scanning disparate network file shares, document management repositories, and employee desktops.
Enabling scans to be performed based on a variety of user defined criteria, including file name and type, date or date range files were created or modified, and schedule (e.g. time, frequency, recurrence).
Generating comprehensive inventory and management reports, which can be scheduled and sent via email to managers in a variety of formats.
Once files are discovered and incorporated into the inventory, administrators can optionally move critical spreadsheets and Access databases to an archive location for further analysis and review. To tap into employee PCs, Prodiance eDiscovery incorporates optional desktop agents, which send eDiscovery results back up to the server.
